New iPod Nano

The other day I was chatting to a friend of mine about how much I love my little shuffle – the rectangular one that Apple brought out last year – but, how annoying it is that when you’re at the gym, you can’t search for the song you really want to listen to. You know, the one that makes you run faster, lift heavier weights, do another 50 crunches. Yep, you know the one.

Then I logged onto the Apple store today, and…. ta-da, my problems have been solved. Dear tech and Apple lovers, behold the new iPod Nano. Touch screen? Check. Teeny tiny? Check. Clips on and so you don’t have to buy one of those annoying armbands? Check.

Pretty. Very pretty.

Guess who’s paying the Apple store a visit this weekend? For £149 I’ll definitely be shopping for one of those.

Skin

“It is difficult to find any place where the bonds between science and society, nature and culture, and even mind and body, have been more visible than the skin.”

- Javier Moscoso
Research Professor of History and Philosophy of Science, Spanish National Research Council & Co-curator of the ‘Skin’ exhibition

The exhibition, Skin, is fascinating. Unsurprisingly, the largest and most visible of our organs receives an exorbitant amount of attention in the 21st century. If we’re not looking to change it’s colour, we’re trying to rid it of folds, marks and lines that give parts of our identity away that we would rather conceal and not ironically have on display.

However, things were quite different before the advent of dermatology as a medical discipline. Before the 18th century the skin was thought of as a cloth that concealed – something that needed to be removed in order to see the body’s inner truth.

Skin is a creative, scientific and cultural display of items, artifacts and various media that represent an organ that gives the world clues of who we are, what we believe, where we’re from and even, what we do.

Wellcome Collection

The Skin exhibition is running till 26 September 2010.

Best job post

Every now and again you come across something so brilliant that you just have to share it with someone. So, here I am.

Today, I didn’t find a cool new eyeshadow or a caffeinated hang out that sells flat whites pronto. No, it’s much more… Well, what most people would call, mundane. It’s a job posting. It caught my eye because of it’s refreshing, honest and highlights an amazing approach to work. They also posted it on Twitter. Cool hey!?

In fact, it made me a little sad for a moment that I wasn’t a designer. Cause damn, someone who puts up a job posting like this… Makes me want to work there.
